NAIAS 2004- Kia Spectra EX on display Tuesday during the last Press Preview day at the North American International Auto Show 2004 in Cobo Hall Detroit. It’s a basic car that puts simplicity at the forefront of its design. The Kia Spectra doesn’t have a backup camera, touch screen infotainment system, or any of the neat technology safety features of the new Kia sedans. They lack a lot of the modern features that you want from a car.

You can purchase a Kia Spectra for less than $10,000 which is a pretty good deal for a reliable car. Regardless, the Spectra is pretty cool for an older car. The Kia Spectra went into production in 2000 and Kia ended production in 2009, so there aren’t any relatively new models. When you buy an older, used car you are typically paying a fraction of the cost of what the first owner paid, meaning you are missing out on that pesky thing called depreciation. Love it or hate it, the Toyota Prius is easily one of the most reliable and fuel-efficient cars that you can buy, and this list proves it even more. There is definitely an appeal to buying the newest, shiniest car models that a manufacturer has to offer, but there are some major benefits to buying used cars as well. From that sales sample, a staggering 19.8 percent of them were listed with over 200,000 miles on the clock while five of them were above 300,000 miles. The car that tops this list is the Toyota Prius, which CarsThatLast found 766 of them for sale for under $6,000. If anything, we’re more surprised that there aren’t more Civics with over 500,000 miles on them. Of those cars listed, 1.8 percent had more than 200,00 miles on them while seven of the cars were listed with more than 300,000 miles on the odometer. 2008 Toyota Corolla | Toyota Honda CivicĪgain, it’s no surprise that the Honda Civic is on this list as CarsThatLast found 3,228 Civic listed for sale for $6,000 or less. Additionally, there are six cars with more than 300,000 miles on them and two cars with more than 400,000 miles on the odometer. According to CarsThatLast, the data revealed that 1,690 Toyota Corollas are listed for sale under $6,000 and among those, 8.93 percent of them are listed with more than 200,000 miles on them.

Apparently, the one above 400,000 miles was a fleet vehicle, but it’s also a true testament to the build quality that Ford can put out.Īre you surprised that the Toyota Corolla is on this list? We’re not, either.

And overall, 3.74 percent of the Ford Focus models listed for sale had over 200,000 miles on the odometer.

However, CarsThatLast found that out of the 2,778 Focuses that are posted for sale for under $6,000, one car was listed above 400,000 miles and four of them had over 300,000 miles on the clock. You might think that a Ford would have nothing to do with this list, much less a Focus. Apparently, you can add Kia to the list of reliable brands, right up near Honda and Toyota. According to the data from CarsThatLast, there are 403 Spectras listed at $6,000 or less and two of the cars that they found were listed as having more than 300,000 miles, while 4.96 percent of them had more than 200,000 miles. The good news is that the Spectra was in production from 2000 to 2009, so there are plenty to be found on the used market. Kia Spectraĭo you remember the Kia Spectra? We barely do, and it’s no surprise considering it was replaced by the Kia Forte back in 2009. It’s always amazing to see how long certain cars can last, so a Youtube channel called “ CarsThatLast” recently put together a list of their “Top 5 Small Cars That Last 300,000 Miles.” And we must say, a few of these cars come as no surprise while the others are downright impressive.ĭisclaimer: The video notes that the results are based on results where at least one car from each brand has reported having 300,000 or more miles and are sorted based on the highest percentage of vehicles above 200,000 miles. Buying a reliable car is one thing, but keeping that car for years and driving it for hundreds of thousands of miles is another.
